Who we are
Kit and Caboodle are a creative collaboration between Miranda Petersen and Kit Rebden. Together they bring their skills, knowledge and ideas to create art work that is available for sale, to hire, and for exhibitions. They are very much inspired by D.I.Y art culture, and believe that creativity is for everyone.
As bee keepers Kit and Caboodle have several apiaries in the North East. They look after the welfare of their own honey bees, and also work closely with ex-veterans on a bee keeping community project.
Miranda extracts wax from the bee frames, and once processed she uses it to create encaustic (wax) paintings. She draws inspiration from her experiences of bee keeping, and tries to capture this is her work. Encaustipig, created exclusively for the Cranium Kunst Tour is coated with wax collected from their colonies.
Miranda incorporates a variety of techniques into her paintings including collage, image transfer and silk working directly onto wooden panel.Miranda graduated in Fine Art in 1996, and has a background in managing and delivering community based creative projects across the North East. She enjoys working across a variety of art forms including sculpture, painting with bees wax, assemblage and felt making. She is currently represented by Art Evolution Gallery, an on-line platform exclusively for North East female artists.
